it's a beautiful thing!

Welcome to On Tap. This section is dedicated to providing you, my dear friends, with news, reviews, and interesting tidbits on one of my favorite subjects – beer.

Those who know me well may consider me a bit of a beer snob. It’s OK, I don’t mind the label. I’m one of those guys who’d gladly trade a case of Bud Light for a six-pack of microbrew. Whenever I’m on vacation or traveling in a new area, I make a point to scout the local beer scene. On one trip many years ago, before we had kids, my wife and I got to spend a week sightseeing in New England. At just about every stop, we were able to find a new, local microbrewery or brewpub to try. We had a great time chatting with the locals and talking with the brewmaster about his offerings. At the Sea Dog Brewery in Camden, Maine, we were treated to a private tour of the facility and a souvenir growler. Such is the spirit of this effort.

There’s a great big world of brew out there, and I’ll try to bring you a little piece of it at least weekly, if not more frequently. My first offering is a feature on Sierra Nevada Brewery. Many of you are familiar with at least a few of their beers, but there’s more to the story, and I guarantee this post will surprise and enlighten you.

Each new entry will be listed as a new sub-page under the “On Tap” page listed in the left column. My goal here is to create a springboard for your own explorations, and I hope you’ll report back on some of your own finds. Check in from time to time for the latest updates. You won’t regret it, I promise!
